What exactly is a Komfort Krate?

A Komfort Krate is a subscription-based series of care packages designed for people navigating grief and loss. It's not a one-time gift — it's continued presence. The journey begins with a Signature Komfort Krate: a larger, grounding box filled with sensory comfort items, guided reflection tools, comforting consumables, and a symbolic keepsake. After that, smaller follow-up krates arrive at regular intervals throughout the year.

How does the subscription work?

You choose the delivery frequency — monthly, every other month, or quarterly. The first box ships within 1–3 business days. Follow-up krates are billed on the 10th of the month and ship by the 15th. Each box is hand-packed and includes items and a personalized letter tailored to the recipient's experience of loss. You don't need to do anything after placing your order — the care keeps arriving on its own.

What's inside the Signature Krate?

The first box includes a linen journal with gilt edges, journal prompt cards, a pen, a weighted eye mask, a 3 oz 72% dark chocolate bar, Ősi magnesium bath flakes, calming teas, and a black labradorite heart stone — a quiet reminder that they are not alone. Follow-up krates include guided journey cards, sensory comfort items, a physical 'I thought of you' item, and a personalized letter.

Can I personalize the krate?

Yes — each krate includes a customized letter written based on the type of loss your recipient has experienced (loss of a spouse, parent, child, etc.). When you place your order, you'll share details about their situation so we can make the letter as meaningful as possible. Physical item personalization is also in development.

How much does it cost?

A Year of Komfort is priced as a single all-inclusive subscription: The Gentle Reminder (quarterly) is $400/year, The Continuing Journey (every other month) is $600/year, and The Steady Presence (monthly) is $800/year. Every plan includes the Signature Komfort Krate plus follow-up krates at the frequency you choose. Shipping is paid by the purchaser and varies by location. No hidden fees.

How fast will the first box arrive?

The Signature Komfort Krate ships within 1–3 business days via FedEx. If you're ordering for someone who just experienced a loss and timing feels urgent, reach out to us and we'll do our best to prioritize your order.

Does the recipient know who sent it?

Yes. Your name and a personal message are included in the krate so your loved one knows this care came from you. Grief can be isolating — part of what makes Komfort Krates meaningful is that the recipient knows someone specific is still thinking of them.

What if I'm not sure this is the right time?

There's rarely a 'perfect' time — and that's actually the point. Most sympathy gifts arrive in the first few days after a loss. Komfort Krates are designed for the quieter months that follow. If you're hesitating because it's been weeks or even months since the loss — that's exactly when a Komfort Krate means the most.

Can I cancel or return the subscription?

Because Komfort Krates are designed as gifts and the recipient begins expecting the deliveries, cancellations are generally not available once active. If something arrived damaged, please contact us right away and we'll make it right.
